Hiking & Exploring Banff
05.22.2024 - 05.26.2024
Over Memorial Day my family and I took a trip to Banff, Canada. Before the trip, I didn’t know much about Banff. To be honest, I almost didn't go, which is unusual for me since I usually love to travel.
Of course I came to my senses and booked the trip to join my family. I am so happy I ended up going because Banff was absolutely stunning. The views were breathtaking, the air was so clean and fresh, and the people there were friendly (minus one mean French waiter). We stayed near downtown Banff, which I loved because it was within walking distance of all the local shops and restaurants. A great discovery made by my mom was a store called Rocky Mountain Soap Company. I am not going to disclose how much she spent there on soap and candles because I am a loyal daughter and will not out her shopping habits on the internet.
Our time in Banff was also spent majorly outside enjoying the beautiful views and hikes. When we visited it was late May, the weather was a little chilly but overall really good for hiking. We were able to layer up and strip down as our hikes went on. My favorite hike of the trip was Johnston Canyon to Upper Falls and the Ink Pots. The hike itself was decently challenging, and we experienced about all four seasons during this hike (bouts of sunshine / snow / rain accompanied us on the journey). The end of the hike opened up to an incredible view of these snow-capped mountains and crystal clear, reflective water. I loved taking in the scenery and enjoying the hues of green and blue.
